The Legitimacy Of The Trump Administration (Or Lack Of One)

Donald J. Trump. A man who is not well. A man who has been given the keys to the office and the codes. A man who is delusional. A man who cannot tell the difference between reality and fantasy. A man who is dangerous .  A man who is trying to create a new world order through hate, fear mongering and propaganda.

Now I know that what I am saying will be denounced by every single Trump supporter out there and that’s the point you see because Trump supporters will always agree with him regardless of what he says because that is the very definition of brainwashing propaganda and if you aren’t with him then you are the enemy. Fair enough but the non ignorant people know the truth . They know how to separate the “Fake News” from the real news. They know how to separate the “Alternative Facts”  from the actual facts. And this writer will explain why I wrote the statements above because unlike the delusional nutjob that is running our country, (God Help Us), I backup my statements so without further aideu, may I present the following:

TRUMP CLAIMS THAT TRUMP TOWER WAS WIRETAPPED BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION

Without providing one shred of evidence or proof, Trump decided to tweet this serious accusation . There’s only one problem:

NO PRESIDENT IS LEGALLY ALLOWED TO WIRETAP ANYONE AT ANYTIME WITHOUT A FEDERALLY MANDATED COURT ORDER.

In fact, this is what led to Nixon’s resignation (He was going to be impeached) and the laws being changed to prevent something like this ever happening again. The only time the Government would wiretap someone is under extreme circumstances and this is a rare thing .

So where did Trump get this idea from: Mark Levine  who declared that: Mark Levine says Obama Wiretapped Trump Tower. Then Breitbart picked it up and that’s where Trump decided it was okay to tweet but Breitbart was run by Steve Bannon who is Trump’s 2nd in command and who Trump takes advice from seriously and really we all know his views. You think Trump is nuts? Bannon is worse.

Here’s where it gets interesting: Trump has ordered(Or has  demanded is  more like it) that an immediate investigation get underway so that anyone involved can be “punished”. How they proceed is up to them but taxpayers money would of course be involved which begs one to ask : Why are we paying for something that does not exist? And, how do you investigate something where something doesn’t exist? FBI director Comey has already said NO and has asked the Justice Department to do the same .

Obama’s former intelligence director has already said that this could not happen because he would need to have been involved, which he was not.

TRUMP SAYS THE MEDIA IS FAKE NEWS

Meanwhile, back in the real world, the only fake news is the one being tweeted by Trump. Trump has started a media war with the press because he does not like them. Why? Because if they report things he does not like he’ll call it “Fake News” and then put out his version of what the truth is which is what we call “Alternative Facts”. And just so we are clear, the definition of Alternative Facts is defined as

The worst of the four classifications of lies: lies, damned lies, statistics, alternative facts. Alternative facts are distinguished from the other damnable lies by the addition of gaslighting the listener.

A good example of this:

After backing up her false statements with alternative facts, Kellyanne Conway threatened the “dishonest” media for suggesting that she might be lying.

So to be clear: We the media are the enemy because we are spewing lies, while Donald Trump is tweeting accusations which he believes with 100% certainty that what he tweets is the absolute truth. Isn’t this how propaganda works? Suppress the media so everyone has no choice but to believe you? Hmmm. This sounds oddly familiar Suppression of the Media in Nazi Germany . There was also this:

In 1929, Hitler chose Josef Goebbels as his Minister of Propaganda. Goebbels developed extremely successful campaigns using simple slogans and images repeated over and again in order to win public support for the party. The Nazis spent huge sums on newspapers, leaflets and poster campaigns.

So I guess the phrase: “Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it” is actually happening. Who’d have thought?

The thing that Trump does not understand is that Freedom of the Press is a powerful tool that was specifically created by Thomas Jefferson because he believed that:

A press that is free to investigate and criticize the government is absolutely essential in a nation that practices self-government and is therefore dependent on an educated and enlightened citizenry. On the other hand, newspapers too often take advantage of their freedom and publish lies and scurrilous gossip that could only deceive and mislead the people. Jefferson himself suffered greatly under the latter kind of press during his presidency. But he was a great believer in the ultimate triumph of truth in the free marketplace of ideas, and looked to that for his final vindication.

And:

“The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them.” –Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, 1787. ME 6:57

To be President, one must know the laws of our country and be familiar with the Constitution which clearly Trump is not, which brings me to:

TRAVEL BAN

Here you have someone who decided, without consulting anyone, that all Muslims are “bad dudes” which is a pretty inaccurate statement . There’s a saying that “Every Muslim is a terrorist but not every terrorist is a Muslim”. True enough, recent events have proven this correct. But to single out one single religion (for lack of a better word) is illegal to the core no matter what you say. America is a Democracy and as such, we are all entitled to due process. If you are a criminal then you aren’t. That includes terrorists (or suspected) but to just tell every single Muslim that you are no longer welcome in this country? How does that make us look? What does that tell other countries?

People came here for a better life. For freedom. And yet, years later, the descendants of those are now bearing the brunt of this simply because they are muslim. To make it worse, Trump has now decided that children will be separated from their moms. While the moms will be sent back to which they came, the children will be sent to Foster care or “some other relative”.

Trump Supports can call this whatever they want but it is a Muslim Ban through and through and Trump is skirting the law here by doing this because again, the Constitution has “FREEDOM OF RELIGION” which allows one to practice their Religion out in the open whenever they feel the need to.

You say you want to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” but by signing executive orders that undermine that, you are being a hypocrite. Why? Because this travel ban is bad for everyone for many reasons but this one in particular is important

In the wake of the travel ban, Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America great again” seems rather ironic. The failure to appreciate that immigrants are good for innovation, competitiveness and the nation’s future flies in the face of this aim.

And in a well written article by The Guardian, The Muslim Travel Ban , the writer states several excellent main points that one:

First – and this can’t be emphasized enough – Trump’s own people have found no rational security justification for this ban. A leaked Department of Homeland Security memo, prepared after the first travel ban, found that “country of citizenship is unlikely to be a reliable indicator of potential terrorist activity”.

Rachel Maddow obtained a March 1 Homeland Security reportwhich assessed that “most foreign-born US-based violent extremists [are] likely radicalized several years after their entry into the United States”. If the executive order is not rational, then maybe – just maybe – it’s bigoted?

And two:

Second, these Muslim bans are presented to us as if we’ve never heard Donald Trump, Steve Bannon or Stephen Miller speak. Probably the most disingenuous element of this administration is how it uses broadcast and social media to get its message across while disassociating itself from its own media presence.

And three:

Third, and most important, we must recognize how Trump’s Muslim ban is an extreme deviation from more than 50 years of US immigration policy. Prior to 1965, the US had favored northern Europeans in matters of immigration, but in the middle of the Civil Rights movement and the Cold War, that system was widely seen, here and abroad, as racist and antiquated.

The Immigration and Nationality act of 1965 signed by President Johnson at Liberty Island, stated that the law”

“corrects a cruel and enduring wrong in the conduct of the American Nation”

You can read it here: The Immigration and Nationality Act

Finally,

RUSSIA

This is the biggest thorn in Trump’s side. And, some critics have said that Trump’s making up news is to deflect on the media’s (as he called it) “witch hunt”. The only problem is that after an investigation it turned out that Russia was indeed involved in hacking and rigging of the election.

Not only that, but the Trump administration is corrupt with half of his cabinet somehow involved with Russians. Flynn already resigned. Sessions had to recuse himself (not to mention lying under oath). Tillerson has contacts there related to his days as Exxon CEO. Trump is pallsy wallsy with Putin . The list goes on and on and it’s only a matter of time before Snowden is handed over as a “gift” to Trump.

So everything that Trump is tweeting makes sense when you think about .Sure half of what he tweets has no basis in reality but whatever he does, says, or tweets plays exactly into the media’s hands and as long as it take the focus away from Russia he’s as happy as a clam.

By the way, he isn’t allowed to tweet on his personal twitter account and has been asked to stop but Trump is Trump and he does whatever he wants.

This man is not fit to be President or hold the codes for our nuclear weapons (yes, we have them) because as I said above this man is living in a fantasy world where he thinks he’s on the Apprentice or something else.

Focus on being the President instead of telling us why Arnold Schwarzenegger was fired from Celebrity Apprentice (He wasn’t) or telling us why SNL needs to be canceled because of Alec Baldwins performance of you. (Side note: Previous Presidents have been parodied to their amusement).  Or don’t decline the White Correspondent’s Dinner because of the fear of getting roasted (Be a man.. You were roasted by Comedy Central).

Bottom line: Donald Trump is a racist, bigot, narcissist, ego manacic, conceited and worst of all morally unethical (If you think he separated himself from his business then you are sadly mistaken).

The majority of his staff is inexperienced and are pretty much afraid to stand up to him.

Sean Spicer is a moron

Kelly Ann Conway is an ignorant putz

Steve Bannon hates everybody

Jeff Sessions is a hick who doesn’t understand questions he’s asked

Jared Kushner is a disgrace to Judaism

I mean this list can go on and on but I think you get the idea.

And I know that people reading this will call me out on what I’ve written and that’s ok because he truth needs to be told not the one that you’ve been led to believe is the truth  although Lenin once said that “tell a lie long enough and eventually it becomes truth”.

Make no mistake. the media will NOT be silent nor will we allow Trump to rewrite history as he sees fit. We will fight for what we believe in. Fight for what’s right and continue being guided by what this country was founded upon.

Because if we want to “Make America Great Again”, we need to stop Making America Hate and turning against one another.

America. It is the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave”. It is a country where we can speak freely, write freely and practice freely. We are the United States of America and one nation under God.

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

And that includes EVERYONE EVERYWHERE.

The Constitutional Amendments

London Trip: Thoughts and Observations

I recently came back from a vacation across the pond and while the weather was “on and off” that didn’t stop me from traveling or sightseeing. England is a really big place (well, depends on who you ask) so it is really impossible to see everything in such a short time (A week) which is why you research and choose what you feel is of importance to you on this go around.Which I did and I’m happy to say more or less that my goal was reached and accomplished (minus the 2 things recommended by a friend that I didn’t know about).

So, based on everything I did, let me tell you about what I thought about the stuff I did.

HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT

This is the heart of London where everything happens. Going through I tried to compare it with our version of the Senate and House (not sure if it’s an accurate description though) and here, it’s defined as the House of Lords and the House of Commons. You can tell that the building is steeped in History by it’s design. Not only that, but there’s one room where all the Queens and Kings hang (including the current )and I stopped and “visualised” what it was like back then. All the sculptures of people who are long, long gone that passed through even the door that Charles 1 walked through . There’s a reason why you need to knock now as apparently, Charles 1 stormed through this door demanding the head of 5 people he said commited treason (If you look closely, the door is still damaged and ironically, if you look above the door, the wall is damaged from the bombs of WWII. Churchill aid to leave as is as a reminder).

You actually enter from a place called WESTMINSTER HALL which was built in the 1500’s and is very significant because it’s also called THE GREAT HALL  because it’s where a few people lied in state here such as Churchill. Also, it’s where leaders come to speak (Mandela, Obama). Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to take pictures except for in this room.

Over the years, this has been renovated but it’s the original design

WESTMINSTER ABBEY

This is older then Parliament by about 500 years (give or take) and it’s a church, cathedral, cemetery, memorial.. Basically an all in one and I’m not exaggerating and here’s why.

DSC_0185.JPGDSC_0186.JPGfDSC_0187.JPG

Basically, how this works is that you go through it (It’s one big area) and as you go off with Jeremy Irons (He’s your guide) you really have to take a look at the gothic design and the detail that went in to it.It’s massive, beautiful and lots of thoughts went into it. You walk past the final resting places of ome of the early monarchy such as Isaac Newton, King Henry (the first one who also was one of the original designers), his wife, Edward (I forgot which one) Mary Queen of Scots and even some modern day people who are paried beneath the floor (You can’t see them but if you stand on their name plaque, it’s the spot where they are “resting”) even those not buried here (like Willie Shakespeare) still have a memorial to them including Handel who was German.

I should also mention that on display is the coronation chair that was used for Queen Elizabeth and of past Q and K’s (It is still being used). Here is also where Princess Di and Charles , Willie and Katie got married.

It’s also open to anyone who finds themselves wanting to pray during services. I do however recommend you going to check this out no matter your religion.

CRUISING DOWN THE THAMES

This isn’t really anything I set out to do (it is Winter after all) but I just wanted to say that I went to the Thames. I also happened to have been here and it seemed like a good shortcut to get to where I was going.DSC_0086.JPG

TOWER OF LONDON

I didn’t know about this and was recommended by a friend but boy is this a chilly, eerie place. This place has 6 live Ravens living here for it is said that should they leave, the Tower will fall. No idea if it’s true but as Lenin once said

“Tell a lie long enough and it becomes truth”

Anyway, this was a massive Tower/Fortress  that was protected from all sides

It also said that nearby is where Anne Boleyn was executed. There is a monument here to attest to that fact.

dsc_0134

A monument that says this is the site where Anne Boleyn was executed by Henry the 8th

Pretty much I learned a little bit here . One thing that is interesting here is that the staff live on the premises with family and that they are part of the royal guard that works for the Queen. The evidence is there because on the site also houses the Crown Jewels. Basically the royal crowns, scepters and everything among them.

It truly is a magnificent place  and I can go on and on but I won’t so let’s go on shall we?

ROYAL ALBERT HALL

This was actually not in my plans however I was close to where I needed to be so I figured it’s a really famous and well know place so I figured why not? Anyone who’s anyone has performed here (currently home to Cirque Du Soleil). Because I went on a guided tour, I was able to go where it’s usually off limits such as the Queen’s waiting room and her box (technically the Royal Box). Oh, and apparently there’s a royal bathroom which we couldn’t see but can’t imagine how it would be any different.

The View From The Royals Box

I did a walking tour which was fascinating in and of itself and discovered that Big Ben is named after a guy named Ben who was a pretty big fella (true story). Also, for some reason, only UK residents can go inside it. Not sure why but this is an odd thing really. Oh, but the clock still works. It chimes on the hour.

The Famous Pic/Movie Scene

Well, I spent a week here and pretty much accomplished what I set out to do and the other things were just bonuses. I even got to do 4 things in one day . The problem is that there’s lots to see not just in London so you’d have to plan another trip just to see it. For example:

  • Shakespeare’s House: This is way, way out there. It could be done but you’d have to go early in the morning. There are different  opinions on whether or not he’s buried here as well.
  • Windsor Castle: This is the main dish if you will. The place that holds the final resting place for KIng George VI(Lizzie’s Pop), his wife, daughter (I think)… Her name is Margret).. It’s also the place of many other royals . Interestingly enough, Princess Di isn’t buried here. She unfortunately is off limits to the public. The closest you can get to her is via her monument in Hyde Park.  Also of note: It’s still used today . Actually it’s one of the Queen’s residence . This is a nice place to visit if you have the time but it’s between 3 and 4 hours to get there so plan accordingly.
  • Stonehenge: This mysterious monument tells a story. There are conflicts regarding the Stonehenge. How it got there, who built it, what it represents… But it is considered by some as one of the seven wonders of the world. And, not far from here is the famous
  • Bath Houses. Not Turkish. Not English but Roman. Yep. And it is still in use today. In fact, for a fee, one can go swimming in these waters. Untouched, these are the actual houses which would make them thousands of years old (I’m guessing here).

Believe it or not, England is a HUGE place with so much to see and do. It is unfortunate that you can’t see EVERYTHING in one trip (Unless you stay here for a month or two) but a lot of this is for anyone who is a history buff and/or just to see famous “movie locations”. (You won’t find the GoT set anywhere here).

England is older then America. Way, way, way old. And yet, they were barbaric for most of their existence and I think most ,if not all, of England still suffers from that today. It is interesting to not however that the monarchy meant something all those years ago. Today, it is just a name in title only. A figurehead. Yet, the Queen still has a say in some Government matters and there’s still a hierarchy but only because it’s been that way from generation to generation (kinda tradition at this point) but England isn’t the same as it used to be? No. Can it or will it revert to it’s past?  No and even if it wanted to it couldn’t because of the Magna Carta (which I happily got to see ).

And that’s why the history is so important not just for England but for us all because at one point in time we were all under British rule.It wasn’t just America, (New York was named by the English by the way as it was supposed to be a gift for the Duke of York), but other countries like S. Africa, Israel, Canada (which is still under the Monarchy it seems). And it is important to remember why we wanted to be free of their rule and why we wanted our independance.

England today by definition is a Catholic country (I think) but it was because of the separation of Church and State which was a very important time in England’s history. It is this point that made it what it is today and without it, who knows what would have happened. That being said, I like to think that England’s history is our history because it is who we are. It is who we became for without them, who knows if we would have ever become The United States of America? And it is for this reason and this reason alone that we must reflect on the history and the politics of English rule and society .

Love.. What is it really?

NOTE: THE FOLLOWING ENTRY WAS WRITTEN A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AGO. I HAD FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT IT UNTIL I GOT AN EMAIL ABOUT IT BEING PURGED FROM AN INACTIVE ACCOUNT. I THOUGHT I’D SHARE IT HERE FOR SEVERAL REASONS. HOPE YOU ENJOY.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

What is love? Is love something we want or need? Is it something we take for granted? More importantly, is it something we really need?  Haddaway asks the same question but continues on by saying, “Baby Don’t Hurt Me. Don’t Hurt Me No More.” There could be some truth to that however I have yet to figure out if the song is a breakup song (which would seem unlikely because who would make a break up song that you could dance to? So what exactly does the song mean? To what is it referencing? Who knows? But love, like hate, is a VERY strong word that should not be used lightly.

So, why do I raise these questions? Why do I even choose to write about this? For the simple reason  that many people get hurt by being in love and/or trying to be there for someone they deeply care about. Sadly, it does not always work out for the best or the way we would like it to turn out but at least we know we tried and that’s what counts…. Usually.

So you are probably wondering if I’m qualified to write something on love and to that I say most probably not but I assure you that half of us are not. If that’s the case, then why would I write this? I don’t really know for sure. Maybe cause I need to get it off my chest. Maybe it’s therapeutic. Maybe my conscience is feeling guilty. Who knows? What I do know is that love means different things to different people and perhaps for me, it means nothing at all. Sounds crazy? Sure. But you be the judge.

I have known two girls who are very special to me for a few years now. I have dated both but not together.  These two girls are childhood friends and have been best friends for 15 years and each considers the other like a sister. When I dated one, I was still good friends with the other. For one reason or another, and I’m still not sure why, when it didn’t work out with one, I would go to the other which wasn’t so bad… At first. But we lost touch after awhile and that was that… Or so I thought.

However, around nine months ago, as I was preparing to go to Israel, I received a call from a voice that sounded familiar and I knew instantly who it was. For story sake let’s call her Brenda (not her real name) and she told me what happened to her and wanted to meet for dinner at her place. Well, who am I to argue with a nice home cooked meal? Long story short, we were a couple again and I was happy. But without wanting to hurt her, I held off telling her I was leaving for awhile until I could figure out how to tell her and when I finally did, she was okay with it because at the time, we both knew I’d be back in six months time and I also knew she would be there around December.

About a month later, we again lost touch and this time I didn’t know why but  several months later, I met the other girl who we will call Lana (also not her name) and she was in NY and she was also concerned because Brenda disappeared without a trace and no one knew where she was. But Lana and I were talking and she was moving to Israel so  we decided to try again and we did

Since I don’t want this to be so long, let’s just say Brenda tracked me down recently when she was in fact living out in Tel Aviv with Lana and everything was honkey dorie. Lana had her man and Brenda had hers until one day something personal happened that caused Lana to pour out her feelings for me.

So is there a point to all of this? Yes. I got lucky and greedy. How? Well, if you are smart, never date two women at the same time especially ones who are BFF’S. It creates a complicated situation that will do more harm then good and currently, I am learning this the hard way because now they are no longer speaking to one another (hopefully that will change) and my relationship with Brenda is no longer what it used to be. I mean, we are still together and everything but I fear we are slowly drifting away.

Is this my fault? Yes and no. Do I regret it? Yes? Do I wish I could go back and change things? Most definitely. But the damage is done and I fear it can only get worse. What’s love got to do with it after all this? Well, simply put, the two people I love and care about the most were extremely hurt by what happened and I let them down immensely. People warned me it was going to get ugly and I chose not to listen and had I done that, they’d still be friends and thinks would be the way they should. I cry myself to sleep each and every night cursing at myself for what I did and for what happened and for being stupid for maybe losing the best thing that ever happened to me with Brenda.

So love what is it really? I don’t think I could really answer that. I don’t think I’m qualified to. I’m not sure I know how to love anymore. How can I if I keep hurting the ones I love? I mean sure I still have Brenda but it’s not the same anymore and may never be again but I cherish everything we have together and I always will. What was right in front of me I was to blind to see and ultimately, I paid a price for it. A price that I will have to live with and regret for the rest of my life and for me, that hurts the most.

Passover (Spring) Cleaning

Well, I finally did it. I finished Passover (Spring) cleaning. A job which I hate doing that I really procrastinate with it. It’s amazing what you find when your cleaning up. Heck, I found things I either didn’t know I had, thought I lost or just misplaced.  But in the end, it didn’t take very long either.

While I was at it, I decided to untangle a huge amount of wires and plugs and half of them I have no idea where they go so I wondered if I should figure it out or just throw it away. I chose the latter.

I don’t really understand why I have to clean anyway since I’m away for the entire Passover anyway. I know it’s a yearly ritual but what’s the point if one’s not even going to be here. Strange part about this, I had to help my sister and her husband and they will be gone as well. Sure I moved the oven and fridge but that still counts…. I think.

Which begs the question: Should I have packed first then clean or doesn’t matter?  I don’t care as I have to pack regardless and I have very little time to do it in and I need to shop as part of the packing…. Weird right?

Until next year, I’m glad to be done. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be this time around. In fact, it was a breeze. I guess the fact that I wasn’t home for an entire year may have helped.

Anyway, how did the rest of you fare? Do you hate Passover cleaning as much as I do or do you get it done as fast as possible just to be done with it? We can’t all be procrastinators can we?
